Ms. Moons Course Policies
LATE WORK POLICY: Student work can be turned in on the date due by the end of the school day without penalty. Any work received after the end of the school day will be late and NOT ACCEPTED.
ACADEMIC HONESTY: Academic Dishonesty will not be tolerated and will result in a score of 0 points. Academic dishonesty includes “cheating” and “plagiarism,” the theft of ideas and other forms of intellectual property— whether they are published or not. Cheating includes the following: giving or receiving information during an exam (“exam” includes tests and quizzes), using unauthorized material (like notes) during an exam; unauthorized dissemination or receipt of exams, exam materials, contents, or answer keys, taking an exam or writing a paper for another student or asking someone to take an exam or write a paper for you (this includes shared work and/or group-produced answers on take-home exams), submitting the same paper–or different versions of what is substantially the same paper–for more than one course, misrepresenting or fabricating written work, sources, research, or results as well as helping another student commit an act of academic dishonesty or lying to protect a student who has committed such an act.
EXTRA CREDIT: Extra credit will be offered on occasion through the following opportunities:
Participation Credit – While lecturing, I will often call upon students or ask for students responses. Students who respond will receive a participation credit.
Handouts – I will occasionally offer extra credit through various handouts (i.e. crossword puzzles, worksheets, etc). These point values will vary.
Research Project (BIOLOGY ONLY) – At anytime during the quarter, you can complete a research project on a biological topic of your choice (the topic MUST be cleared by Ms. Moon). Up to 100 points extra credit points. You must select a credible source (.org, .edu, academic journal, etc…)and provide a hard copy Please see Ms. Moon if you are interested in this opportunity. This project must be submitted before the end of the day on the last day of each quarter.
Other Assignments, Projects and Quizzes – Throughout the semester, I may offer additional credit for questions on quizzes or exams, or even extra credit quizzes (physical science). There will also occasionally be extra projects which vary between units that Ms. Moon will offer.
ADDITIONAL TUTORING: Due to the complexities of the language, concepts and systems involved in this course, I openly offer time for all students to come by and ask questions, receive additional and supplemental materials in the event that you feel you need extra help before school, at lunch and after school and via email. Students can coordinate times with me in person but this must be scheduled before hand.
